There are a few things that perk my ear, rousing the Canadiana deep within me: the theme song to Hockey Night in Canada, the “Roo-coo-koo” song, the Tim Hortons logo… and the accent (an “eh?” is usually all it takes).
At the time I was a long way from home, in Las Vegas for a trade show. In a place like that, the accent stuck out like a pine tree in the desert.
This show instantly reminded me of growing up in Prince George. The truckers that drive the Ice Road are a lot like the guys I grew up with, in their demeanour, their dress, and especially their accent. Click the link for a clip from Ice Road Truckers, on the History Channel.
